Unstable SMP Rules
Updated
Allowed mods
Unstable SMP allows the standard Minecraft performance and cosmetic mod set. These do not give you an advantage over other players, so they are permitted:
- Sodium and Sodium Extra - rendering and frame rate.
- Lithium and Starlight - physics and lighting.
- Fabric API and Mod Menu - required loaders for the mods above.
- Zoomify, OptiFine and ReplayMod - zoom, shaders and recording.
- Waypoints, minimap and HUD mods that only display information you could read in game.
Banned clients and mods
Anything that gives you information or an action a player could not otherwise get is a cheat. These are banned without exception:
- KillAura and any auto-hit or auto-attack mod.
- Reach, ESP, Tracers and any wall-penetrating player or block viewer.
- Fly, Speed, Flight, NoFall and any movement that breaks normal Minecraft physics.
- X-ray, including "fullbright" that reveals caves through stone.
- Dupe and exploit macros, including item and TPS-based duplication.
- Combat mods such as Killaura, Criticals, AutoClicker during PvP.
- Cracked launchers, offline mode clients and shared logins.
If you are unsure whether a mod is allowed, ask in the Discord before installing it. Being wrong costs a ban; asking costs nothing.
PvP
PvP is allowed on Unstable SMP. Fights follow normal Minecraft conventions - swords, bows, potions and armour all apply, and there is no extra damage modifier.
What is not allowed is PvP that depends on a cheat: reach, auto-aim, entity spoofing, or using a mod to react faster than a human can. Basing a raid on a legit fight is fine; winning with a client is not.
Chat and behaviour
| Topic | Rule | Enforcement |
|---|---|---|
| Chat | No harassment, slurs, or discrimination of any kind | Immediate mute, then ban |
| Advertising | No promoting other servers in chat or public builds | Warning, then mute |
| Scamming | No fake giveaways, item scams or trade scams | Trade ban and permanent ban |
| Exploits | Reporting a bug is encouraged; farming one is a ban | Immediate ban |
| Griefing | Not allowed outside an agreed raid or war | Rollback and possible ban |
| Lag abuse | No redstone or machine abuse that degrades the server | Removal and warning |
| Offensive builds | No offensive or discriminatory structures | Removal of the build |
Raids and warfare
Raiding is part of survival multiplayer and is allowed when it is agreed between the players involved. Claiming a base unopposed because the owner is offline, then holding it against them, is griefing and is treated as such.
Ban policy
- Hacked clients, dupes and exploits - permanent ban, no appeals on serious cases.
- Cracked launchers and stolen accounts - permanent ban.
- Harassment or slurs - immediate ban.
- Minor chat or advertising offences - mute first, ban on repeat.
To appeal a ban, use the appeals channel in the official Discord. Include your username, the date and the reason you were given. Only staff will respond to appeals - anyone else claiming they can unban you is running a scam.
Reporting a player
Use the Discord report or ticket channels with:
- The offending username.
- What happened, in one or two sentences.
- Evidence - a screenshot or a clip, if you have it.
- The approximate time in-game, if relevant.
